(ALGONQUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) As a result of an ongoing investigation, members of the Haliburton Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment conducted a search warrant at a residence on Tulip Rd in Algonquin Highlands Township.
On Wednesday August 13, 2014 members of the Haliburton detachment Crime Unit with the assistance of the Central East Drug Enforcement Section (DES), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) as well as the Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended the property on Tulip Road and seized a substantial amount of product relating to production of an illegal substance. Andrew James STEVENSON (48yrs) of Algonquin Highlands Twp has seen been arrested and charged with Production of a Schedule II Substance – cannabis marihuana under the Controlled Drug Substances Act. He was further charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on October 12, 2014 to answer to his charges.
