(CALEDON, ON) – On September 11, 2002 officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break and enter into a business location on Airport Road. At that time, it was reported that the suspect(s) gained entry into the property by cutting a section of the southwest fence. The suspect(s) left bolt cutters and a hacksaw at the scene of the break and enter. Identification officers observed blood stains on the handle of the hacksaw. Subsequently, the hacksaw was seized for DNA analysis. Once the samples were collected, they were forwarded to the Centre of Forensic Sciences.
The collected sample resulted in a positive match in the DNA Data Bank. Investigation revealed that the suspect in this break and enter was residing in another province. In June 2014, officers learned that the suspect had moved back to Ontario and was in custody on other convictions.
As a result of the lengthy investigation, the accused Michael Steven TRUMPER, 32, from Maplehurst Correctional Facility was arrested and charged with Break and Enter Over $5,000.00.
The accused plead guilty to the Break and Enter and is currently in custody.
