FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision at a Hwy #6 and Fifth Line, Haldimand County, ON address.

Today, Monday August 25th, 2014 at approximately 1:45 am Haldimand County Emergency Services (EMS) were called to the intersection of Hwy #6 and Fifth Line for a transport truck and pickup truck collision.

Investigation has thus far revealed that a transport truck was southbound on Hwy #6 when it was hit broad side by an eastbound pickup truck travelling on Fifth Line. The impact of the collision sent the pickup truck into the south ditch, with the transport truck coming to a stop on the shoulder of Hwy #6.

The male driver and a male passenger of the pickup truck sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending Coroner.

A third male passenger in the pickup was extricated by Haldimand County Fire Department and received emergency medical aid from Haldimand County paramedics before being transport to a Hamilton hospital.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator is assisting with the collision investigation.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Hwy #6 is closed to through traffic from Argyle St to Fourth Line.

Fifth Line is controlled by stop signs for both east and west bound traffic.
