A 23 year old Barrie man allegedly committed five assaults at and around a Dunlop Street nightclub. Two of the assaults were on female victims. One victim was punched by the suspect and officers found her unconscious. She was taken to hospital for medical treatment. The other female victim was spit on. An officer placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect resisted arrest , broke free from the officer and fled on foot. Officers gave chase. A few off-duty Canadian Forces members were in the area and assisted in the foot chase. Two of the military personal caught the suspect at the Five-Points. The suspect was arrested by Barrie Police. He was charged with five counts of Assault, Resisting Arrest and Escape Lawful Custody. He was held until he was sober and released with a future court date. The Barrie Police would like to thank the Canadian Forces members for their assistance.
