OPP INVESTIGATE CRASH

(Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Twp, ON) – On August 30, 2014 at approximately 4:40pm, officers of the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reported traffic complaints of a 2000 Toyota Sienna traveling eastbound on the Highway 401 heading towards to Prescott.

The vehicle was observed exiting the highway at Prescott, immediately re-entering the highway and continuing to travel eastbound. Police activated lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver did not stop for police who then deactivated their emergency equipment.

On two occasions the vehicle used the left shoulder of the road to pass vehicles. There were no vehicles around when it moved onto the paved shoulder then towards the centre median and stuck the County Rd. 22 overpass structure, flipping in the air before coming to rest.

The lone occupant in the vehicle, a 29 year old male from Ottawa was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and remained in hospital under the Mental Health Act.
