(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Canadian Coast Guard, were out on Essex County waterways this past holiday weekend providing enforcement and visibility to the public.
In all, 10 charges were laid under the Liquor Licence Act, 21 charges laid under the Canada Shipping Act (many without life jackets or PFD’s), 4 charges laid under the Criminal Code of Canada, 4â€â€3 day suspensions were issued with a total of approximately 100 warnings issued by officers.
The joint cooperation between emergency services provides a strong presence on our local waterways to ensure the compliance and safety of those utilizing the water for their enjoyment.
The local marine units will remain vigilant in their efforts to provide a safe and reliable location for Essex County residents to enjoy their watercrafts throughout the boating season.
