(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a plane crash on Monday 1st of September 2014 at 4:33p.m.
Investigation revealed that two males attempted to take off from Whitestone Lake at 4:25 p.m. when the plane experienced engine trouble.
Members of the OPP and the Whitestone Fire Dept. attended Whitestone Lake and located the airplane in the area of Docks Island.
The pilot and his son had been located by a nearby cottager and transported to his cottage by boat. Both were uninjured.
The West Parry Sound OPP Marine Unit located a 1978 Cessna Skyhawk 2 partially submerged in the water, with extensive damage.
The Transport Safety Board has assigning an investigator to investigate the collision.
