An alert citizen was instrumental in assisting police catch two suspects responsible for several break-ins in the West Lorne area, West Elgin.
At approximately 4:38 am on the September 4th, 2014 the citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of a neighbouring residence. Upon police arrival several people fled from the area of the vehicle. It was discovered by police that two residential break and enters had just taken place in the area. Several pieces of stolen property were recovered in and around the vehicle.
Police were able to apprehend a 19 year old Southwest Middlesex Woman a short distance away from the vehicle and later arrested a 38 year old man from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. Both were arrested without incident.
As a result of the police investigation police have charged;
Jason Jefferey DELEARY, age 38 of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation
2 X Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code
5 X Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code
Failing to Comply with a Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
Montana MASON, age 19 of Southwest Middlesex
1. 2 X Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code
2. 5 X Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code
3. 2 X Failing to Comply with a Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code
4. Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
Both DELEARY and MASON are currently being held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing being held this date September 5th, 2014
