(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call from Orillia City workers who located a male party underneath a fallen tree.
On Friday September 5, 2014 at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers attended the corner of Parkview Avenue and Jarvis Street in the City of Orillia for reports of an injured male.
Orillia City workers were removing branches from a large tree that had fallen at that corner when they located the male unconscious but breathing. The 51 year old Orillia man was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre with critical injuries.
Orillia OPP officers and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members searched the areas hardest hit by the storm including Couchiching Park and Tudhope Park. No other injured parties were located.
Police are asking the public to stay out of both Couchiching Park and Tudhope Park due to the number of downed trees. Couchiching Park has been closed until further notice for public safety and barricades have been erected.
