On Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 at approximately 10:56 p.m. the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 14 Stevenson Street North. Units from Elizabeth St., Wyndham St., Speedvale Ave., and Imperial Rd. arrived at the scene. Fire crews encountered moderate heat and smoke conditions upon entering the basement of the home.
The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. Overhaul was initiated to ensure that there was no fire extension to other parts of the home.
There were no injuries
The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation by Fire Prevention Officers. Assistance from Guelph Police Service, GWEMS, Guelph Hydro, Union Gas, Victim Services and Red Cross was greatly appreciated.
