IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED

(CALEDON, ON) – On September 7, 2014 at approximately 5:41am, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a northbound traffic complaint on Highway 10. Witnesses reported that the driver of a black Mazda was observed crossing into the southbound lanes on Highway 10. Witnesses also reported that the driver was travelling at a high rate of speed. Officers located the vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes on Highway 10, south of Broadway Avenue (Orangeville). Subsequently, the officer stopped the motor vehicle and arrested the driver for dangerous driving. The officer immediately detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and demanded the driver produce a sample of his breath. Testing at Detachment resulted in further charges

Ryan SUTHERLAND, 36, from Owen Sound was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 9, 2014.
