NOVICE DRIVER CHARGED WITH SEVERAL DRIVING OFFENCES

(New Tecumseth, ON) On the 5th of September 2014, at 11:30 p.m. a concerned citizen dialled 911 to report a possible impaired driver on Dunning Crescent in Alliston. The citizen observed a motor vehicle driving erratically and travelling at high speeds throughout the community, which caused him concern.

Officers located the motor vehicle on Dunning Crescent and spoke with the driver. As a result of the traffic stop, officers charged 36 year old Kris RORKE of Alliston with:

Careless driving, contrary to Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act,

Novice driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration above 0, contrary to Section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffice Act

Having care or control of the motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to s. 32(1) of the LLA.

Futhermore, his driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 3-days.

The OPP rely on the public to report crime and impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. If you suspect that someone is driving or about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired and intends on driving, do not let them drive.
