THEFT OF WATER FLOW MONITORING EQUIPMENT

(BRIGHTON, ON) – On Tuesday September 9, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a theft from a water flow monitoring station in the Municipality of Brighton at approximately 1:30 pm.

The theft occurred at the intersection of County Road 30 and Concession Road 2 East in the north end of the Municipality of Brighton. The small aluminum housing which contained the electronic monitoring system for measuring water levels and flow from a nearby stream had been entered. The electronics included flow monitoring and data loggers and other scientific equipment.

The equipment belongs to the Lower Trent Conservation Authority and transmits data via phone lines. The data stopped transmitting on Friday September 5, 2014. This electronic equipment is very specific and not of any resale value for other use. The estimated value of the equipment is $4,000.
