OPP Investigate Election Sign Thefts

(MUSKOKA LAKES TWP, ON) – The Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating thefts of elections signs reported overnight.

On September 9, 2014 there were multiple election signs stolen overnight from the same area near Harris Street on 118 West in Port Carling. The theft was not specific to one particular candidate.

The Bracebridge OPP is investigating these occurrences and would like to remind residents to be vigilant in their neighbourhoods to report such incidents to police immediately.

Anyone taking election signs without authority to do so could be criminally charged with theft under $5000, and have to attend court to answer to their charge.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000 and not have to appear in court.
