(HALIBURTON, ON) – On Monday September 08, 2014 at approximately 7:00 pm a fast acting officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haliburton Highlands Detachment was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 35 and Red Umbrella Road in the Township of Minden Hills Ontario. The officer observed a black Ferrari California traveling south at an extremely high rate of speed. The officer clocked the sports car at an astonishing 175 km/h, which is greater than twice the posted limit in that area. Fortunately the driver stopped the vehicle and as a result Edward CROSBY age 52 of Toronto Ontario has been charged with Stunting – 175 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days on the spot and his vehicle was transported at a much more reasonable speed on the back of a tow truck to a local facility where it will be impounded for 7 days. The male is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court on October 02, 2014 in Minden Ontario to answer to the charge.
