(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) are currently investigating a two vehicle crash that has claimed a life.
Early this morning, at approximately 1:10 a.m. officers from the Huron County OPP Detachment along with Goderich Fire Department and Huron County EMS responded to a crash scene located on Huron Road (Highway 8) at Falls Road.
Police investigation has revealed the driver a Ford Explorer was travelling westbound on Huron Road when for unknown reasons the Explorer crossed the center line and collided head on with an eastbound Freightliner Tractor Trailer.
The driver and lone occupant of the Ford Explorer was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 30 year old driver of the tractor trailer was treated at the scene for a minor injury.
The name of the deceased will be released once positive identification has been made and next of kin has been notified.
A post-mortem examination has been scheduled for today.
A section of Huron Road (Highway 8) remains closed between Black’s Point Road and Porter’s Hill Line.
