(CITY OF LONDON, ON) – On September 12, 2014 at approximately 4:02 p.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an erratic driver travelling eastbound on Highway 402. Police arrived in the area of Highway 402 and Colonel Talbot Road in the City of London where the vehicle was discovered on the shoulder of the highway.
A quantity of alcohol and other items were found outside of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed a quantity of marijuana from within the vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and he was transported to an OPP detachment for evaluation by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert.
As a result of the investigation, police charged the driver, Brendan RECKER, age 26 of Brooke-Alvinston, ON with the following:
Driving while impaired by drug contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of cannabis marihuana – under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act
Litter Highway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom October 31, 2014 to speak to the charges.
