(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 12, 2014 at approximately 2:28 p.m., officers from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Jones Baseline at Eastview Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
At this time and location officers observed a 2001 Pontiac travelling eastbound towards them on Eastview Road well above the posted 60 km/h speed limit. Police activated the handheld radar and clocked the motor vehicle at 122 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
Rodney JEWELL age 26 of Guelph is charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on November 19, 2014 to answer to the charge.
