(CALEDON, ON) – On September 10th, 2014 shortly after 11:15 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a traffic complaint on Highway 10 and Olde Base Line Road. Witnesses reported that the driver of the gray SUV was asleep at the wheel in the eastbound lane of Olde Base Line Road. Officers located the driver in his vehicle and alerted him to position the vehicle in the park position, at which time the driver proceeded eastbound. The officer had to take evasive action to prevent being run over by the driver. The officers immediately detected an odour of alcohol on his breath and that he displayed further signs of impairment by alcohol. The officers demanded the driver produce a sample of his breath and as a result of the findings; he was transported to Detachment for further testing.
Travis FOWLER, 52, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 25, 2014.
