The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following three shoplifting incidents in Chatham this week.
Between Tuesday and Thursday, the man attended No Frills on Queen Street and was caught on video surveillance placing meat in his backpack. On each occasion, the man exited the store making no attempt to pay for the items.
Yesterday afternoon, the man returned to the grocery store, again stealing meat in his backpack. An employee approached the man outside and detained him until police arrived.
Total value of meat stolen over the three days was approximately $350.
Matthew Wright, 28 years, of Wellington Street in Chatham has been charged with three counts of theft under $5000 and three counts of possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
