R.I.D.E. LEADS TO TWO DRUG ARRESTS

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On September 26, 2014 at approximately 7:39 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on the Ninth Line at Side Road 5, Town of Erin.

At this time and location officers investigated the occupants of a 2007 Ford that entered into the checkpoint. Upon speaking with the driver police immediately detected the odour of burnt marijuana and alcohol inside the motor vehicle. The driver surrendered a small baggy of marihuana and was subsequently placed under arrest.

Officers searched the motor vehicle and located a second baggy which contained a substantial amount of marihuana. The passenger was placed under arrest.

David DESROCHE age 41 of the Town of Erin has been charged with Possession of Marihuana Over 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 18, 2014 to answer to the charge.

Kevin LILLIE age 44 of the Town of Erin has been charged with Possession of Marihuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 18, 2014 to answer to the charge.
