(THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing their investigation into the cause of a fatal motor vehicle collision which took place yesterday.
On the 1st of October 2014 shortly before 8:00am, OPP along with Grey County Paramedics and The Blue Mountains Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of a 2 vehicle crash on Highway 26 between Grey Road 40 and Grey Road 2.
An ongoing OPP investigation with the assistance of Central Region OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) Unit revealed that a west bound Toyota SUV crossed into the east bound lane and collided with an east bound heavy truck. This forced the closure of Highway 26 for several hours as police were investigating this crash.
The driver of the Toyota SUV was pronounced deceased at scene, he is now identified as 81 year-old James RACICOT of The Blue Mountains.
The driver of the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
