IMPAIRED CHARGES IN STOLEN VEHICLE

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TWP, ON) – On October 1, 2014 at about 3:00am Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the Wicklow Beach area. Officers arrived in the area and located a male and a truck with no plates on it. The male showed signs of being impaired by alcohol and was arrested. He was taken to the Brighton detachment where he refused to provide samples of his breath.

After a further investigation, it was determined that the truck had been stolen but not reported as such, due to the time of the night.

Shawn CHIPLICK age 36 of Colborne faces the following charges:

1) Impaired Care&Control

2) Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample

3) Driving while Disqualified

4) Possession of Stolen Property

5) Theft Under $5,000

He was later released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 29, 2014.
