(NORWICH, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Unit entered into an investigation regarding the illegal performance of the solemnization of a marriage by a female suspect in August 2014.
As a result of the investigation, Dale READE who performed the ceremony under the name Dale BREWSTER was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The 61 year old female of London, who was the past operator of the Crystal Wedding Chapel in London, was charged with the following:
Pretending to Solemnize Marriage – without lawful authority
Fraud Under $5,000
Uttering forged document
Personation with Intent – intent to gain advantage (Identity Fraud)
The female was released on a Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on November 4, 2014.
