(Selwyn Township, ON) – On Tuesday October 14, 2014, at approximately 10:00 a.m. members of the Peterborough County OPP, and Anishinabek First Nations Police, were called to investigate a report of a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Curve Lake Road at Gazelle Trail.
Police and Selwyn Fire Department attended the scene to discover that two motor vehicles had been involved in a collision on the roadway. Initial investigation revealed that an west bound Pontiac being operated by a 38 year old male from Peterborough, had crossed over into the eastbound lane of Curve Lake Road and struck an oncoming Chevrolet, Silverado pickup truck, which was being operated by a 75 year old male driver. Both vehicles had a passenger with the driver at the time of the collision.
Emergency personnel attended to all involved parties. The 38 year old male was subsequently air lifted to Sunny Brook Hospital with serious injuries. His 29 year old female passenger was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for minor injuries. The 75 year old driver of the Silverado, and his 68 year old female passenger were both transported to PRHC to be treated for minor injuries.
Both vehicles were seriously damaged in the collision, and the road way being partially closed to allow for an investigation to be conducted of the scene.
Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigations unit are in attendance at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and the roadway is down to one lane of directed traffic at this time.
