(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On October 12, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding an intoxicated male operating a lawn tractor around the Town of Mt. Forest in Wellington North Township. Further information was received that the male had rolled the tractor over, however, managed to flip it back upright and continued on to a local business.
Police located the male and determined that he was intoxicated in a public place and placed him under arrest at which time the officer was assaulted.
The male was transported to an OPP Operation Centre and as he was being lodged in the cell he threatened to harm the officer.
The officer was not injured during this incident.
Leslie Charles RANSOME aged 48 of Southgate Township has been charged with Uttering Threats and Assault Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code as well as Being Intoxicated in a Public Place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. He will appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 21, 2014 to answer to the charges.
