GENERATORS STOLEN

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment is investigating the theft of several generators from various wind turbine sites in the lakeshore area of Haldimand County, ON.

Over the past week, five (5) small yellow and black 1200 watt generators have been removed from various wind turbine sites. The generators are values at approximately $400 dollars each.

The generators are used to power the navigation light located on the top of the wind turbine to warn aircraft of possible dangers of flying near these towers.

“Those responsible for removing these generators are probably of the belief that it is only stealing a generator and is not going to hurt anyone. But what they don’t realize is that they are putting small aircraft in danger of striking these towers.” Warns Inspector Phil Carter, Haldimand County OPP Detachment Commander.
