(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the vehicle being towed and the driver facing a Highway Traffic Act related offence.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on October 12, 2014 an OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling at 129 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 35 near Fleetwood Road and subsequently stopped the vehicle. At the time of the officers’ observations the vehicle had been passing other vehicles despite the wet and slippery road conditions.
During the investigation the officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol which resulted in a road side breath test being conducted.
As a result of the investigation Danny WELSH, 61 years of age, of Bowmanville, was charged with careless driving and faces a fine of $490.00. Mr. WELSH’s drivers licence was suspended for 3 days and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
