(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Thursday, October 16, 2014, at approximately 9:56 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of impaired driver who had ditched his vehicle on Grey Rd. 15, Leith, in the Municipality of Meaford.
The driver of the vehicle, a 2009 Toyota pick-up truck, was arrested by an off duty Owen Sound Police Services officer, who had come upon the collision and determined that the lone driver had been impaired by alcohol. The accused was turned over to Grey County OPP at the scene.
Breath tests were conducted and the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was found to be more than twice the legal limit.
Brian MAITLAND, age 48, of Clearview Township, was charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired and care and control of a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
