(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Friday, October 17, 2014, at approximately 2:44 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver for using a hand held device while operating a motor vehicle northbound on Hwy. 10 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
Upon speaking to the driver, and observing an open container of liquor inside the vehicle, the officer suspected that the driver had been drinking alcohol. After failing a road side breath test, further breath tests were conducted at the Markdale OPP Detachment.
Wayne MCLEOD, age 42, of the Township of Chatsworth, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood under the Criminal Code; driving a motor vehicle on a highway while using a hand-held wireless communication device under the Highway Traffic Act; and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
