Yesterday morning, police conducted traffic enforcement in the area of John N Given Public School on Churchill Street in Chatham.
An officer on general patrol observed a woman driving her vehicle at a higher rate of speed than the posted speed limit of 50km/h. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that the woman did not have a valid licence and was driving with an expired valtag and no insurance.
The 58-year-old Chatham woman was charged with driving a motor vehicle with no licence, driving with no currently validated permit and driving with no insurance. Her vehicle was towed from the roadway.
In the afternoon during pick-up time, five motorists were issued parking tickets for stopping in a prohibited area.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind drivers that this is a school zone therefore please reduce your speed, obey parking signs and signals from the crossing guards. The safety of our children is paramount.
