(HALIBURTON, ON) – On October 23, 2014 officers from Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE spot check at the intersection of Highways 35 and 121 in the Township of Minden Hills, Ontario.
Officers conducted a vehicle stop and upon speaking with the male driver, they had detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath which resulted in a roadside breath test being conducted. Further investigation also resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marihuana and psilocybin (mushrooms) from within the vehicle.
Daniel FARNELL, age 44, from Brampton, ON was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule II substance (Cannabis Marihuana- over 30 grams) under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
Possession of a Schedule III substance (psilocybin) under the CDSA
Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act
FARNELL’s driver’s licence was suspended for 3 days.
FARNELL is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden, Ontario on December 03, 2014 to answer to the charges.
