(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – On Sunday October 26, 2014 just before 7:00 pm, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of the Bracebridge detachment attended a motor vehicle collision on Muskoka Road 118 near Clemson road in Muskoka Lakes.
A 23 year old woman was driving travelling east on Muskoka Road 118 when she encountered a moose on the road. The woman swerved to miss the moose, left the roadway and struck a rock face. A westbound vehicle came upon the crash and stuck the first vehicle. Muskoka Lakes fire department responded and extricated the woman from her car and she was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the second car was not injured.
Police are reminding motorists to be alert to the presence of wildlife while driving on area highways.
