(Lansdowne, ON.) – Officers of the Leeds and Thousand Islands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing with investigations where unsuspecting residents in Lansdowne are being targeted for credit card information.
On the 29th of October 2014, officers were advised of a possible fraud targeting residents in Lansdowne. Residents are receiving phone calls from individuals asking for donations for the Hyanto Camp located in Lyndhurst. Credit card information is being requested in order to process the donation.
Hyanto Youth Camp does accept donations; however, they do not solicit over the phone.
Residents are warned not to give credit card information over the phone to those alleging they are from that camp.
Anyone with information about this is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
