FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION WEST OF VERMILION BAY

(DRYDEN, ON) – The Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 17 approximately five kilometres west of Vermilion Bay near Nixon Lake at approximately 1:20am (CST) on November 2, 2014. The collision involved an east bound passenger vehicle that left the roadway and struck a rock cut. The collision resulted in the closure of Highway 17 until 4:45am at which point it was opened to one lane.

The collision resulted in the death of the driver of the passenger vehicle, 32-year-old Amanda GULLIVER originally from Miramichi, New Brunswick but currently residing in Kitimat, British Columbia. The other occupant of the passenger vehicle (a 32-year-old male from New Brunswick) was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the Dryden OPP detachment and a Technical Traffic Collision Investigator are continuing the investigation.
