Peterborough County OPP advises that on November 5th, 2014, a lone hunter failed to return to his hunt camp in the Crystal Lake Road area of Trent Lakes Township. A search was made by other members of the camp with negative results. The Ontario Provincial Police were subsequently contacted. Police dispatched their Emergency Response Team as well as a Canine Unit and the OPP helicopter. After a brief search, the hunter returned to his camp at approximately 11:00am on November 6th 2014.
Speaking to the hunter, he advised that he had become disoriented while in the woods. As nighttime was fast approaching, the hunter had the presence of mind to remain where he was, build a fire and wait until daytime before attempted to find his way out. While walking through the woods, he came upon another group of hunters who assisted in transporting him back to his camp. The hunter was located in good health
