(WELLINTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On November 7, 2014 at approximately 12:36 p.m. officers from the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a stolen 2015 Chevrolet Suburban that was travelling north bound on Highway 6 just outside Mount Forest in Wellington North Township.
OPP were advised that the vehicle had been stolen from the Avis Car Rental at the Toronto Airport at approximately 9:35 a.m. that morning and had been reported to Peel Regional Police Service.
The vehicle was equipped with “OnStar†and they were able to provide police with updated locations as it travelled into Mount Forest. As officers were nearing the vehicle’s location, “OnStar†remotely disabled it by invoking the ignition block and the male driver was taken into police custody.
Richard CUNNINGHAM age 52 of Poughkeepsie, New York, USA has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. He was held for a Bail Hearing.
