The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a disturbance in Chatham last night.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m. police responded to the area of Timmins Crescent and Sudbury Drive in regards to a report of two men known to each other fighting. Upon police arrival, the fight was broken up. One of the men sustained injuries as he was struck with a baseball bat, rock and pepper sprayed. The victim was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. He was treated and released. A witness who stepped in to assist was also assaulted with a rock. He did not require medical attention.
A 38-year-old Chatham man has been charged with four counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Through investigation, police also arrested the victim for assault. The 42-year-old Chatham man was released with conditions pending a future court date.
