Festive RIDE Week 4 – Catherine Bester – Drunk Driving

(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The OPP is conducting its annual Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign from November 25, 2011 to January 1, 2012 and is reminding motorists that province-wide R.I.D.E. stops will be highly-visible throughout the holiday season.

The South Bruce OPP is utilizing all available personnel to participate in the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign. An impaired driving charge was laid and a 3 day suspension issued during the fourth week:

December 22nd, 2011 at 12:30 am, R.I.D.E. check on Yonge Street South, Walkerton. 3 day suspension issued following a warn range at the roadside.

December 21st, 2011 at 12:10 am, R.I.D.E. check on Jackson Street, Walkerton. 34 year old Catherine BESTER of Mildmay was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. She is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on February 6th, 2012 to answer to the charge.

“Some drivers are continuing to take risks with public safety by choosing to drive after drinking. This is a preventable crime that is completely preventable. There is no excuse for drinking and driving, drive sober or don’t drive at all. The South Bruce OPP has a zero tolerance for drinking and driving.” – Inspector Bill Klym, Commander, South Bruce OPP.
