(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday March 16, 2012 shortly after 1:30 a.m. Perth County OPP officers responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Perth Road 112 and Line 29.
Investigation revealed that a Mazda Tribute which was travelling east bound on Line 29 entered the intersection while a North bound Ford Windstar travelled north bound on Perth Road 112. The vehicles collided within the intersection. The impact caused the Windstar to end up in a field on the north east corner of the intersection while the Tribute came to rest on the east shoulder of Road 112.
The Tribute was operated by a male driver from Cambridge; he was the lone occupant. The Windstar was driven by a Stratford male while two other males from Stratford were passengers in this vehicle.
The Township of Perth East Fire Department attended to extricate both drivers and one passenger from the wrecks. All four persons involved were transported to Stratford General Hospital. Two of the four were later transported to London Health Sciences with serious injuries.
West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigators attended and initiated their investigation to determine the cause of this collision. Line 29 is controlled by a stop sign while Perth Road 112 is the through roadway. The roads leading to the intersection were closed with Township of Perth East and the County of Perth barriers. The barriers were in place from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m.
Road and environmental conditions were good at the time of the collision.
