UPDATE – ARSON AND STABBING INVESTIGATION
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On Sunday October 28, 2012 at approximately 2:45am County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers received a 911 call from a residence located on Side Road 27, Town of Erin. The female caller advised that she had been stabbed and that the house was on fire.
Officers arrived on location and found the female on the roof of the residence which was filled with smoke. Police escorted her down from the roof and she was transported to Orangeville Hospital by ambulance and later transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A male party was immediately taken into custody at the residence.
Gersham WHITE aged 78 of Erin Twp has been charged criminally with;
Attempted Murder,
Arson – Disregard for Human Life and
Fail to Comply with Undertaking
His first court appearance was October 29, 2012 and he was remanded into custody and to appear again on November 2, 2012.
Members of the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit, West Region OPP Crime Unit, the West Region OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
