Update: 2 Injured In House Explosion

UPDATE – An Ontario Fire Marshal investigator is presently on the scene conducting their investigation into the cause of the explosion. Further details will be released as they come available.

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Thursday, December 6, 2012 at approximately 4:26 pm, County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call regarding a house explosion on Side Road 2, just south of Mt. Forest, in Wellington North Township. Further information was received that there were 2 people in the residence at the time of the explosion.

Wellington County OPP officers were first on scene of the explosion and provided first aid to the victims until paramedics arrived. Guelph-Wellington EMS responded as well as fire fighters from Wellington North Twp and Minto Twp Fire Departments.

A 70 year old female and a 46 year old male were transported to Louise Marshall hospital in Mt. Forest by ambulance with serious injuries.

The residence was demolished and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall was notified and investigators will be attending the scene.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and further details will be released as they come available.
