Christine Tavares, Mark Tavares & Jody Ranni – Grow Operation, Trafficking

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police Street Crime Unit (SCU) entered into an investigation of the possession of municipal signs stolen from the Township of Wellington North in 2012. On the 19th of May 2013 at approximately 12:07pm, the SCU, with the assistance of C Platoon officers, executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence located in the Village of Arthur. There was no one in the residence at the time of the execution. As a result of the search, four stolen signs were located and determined to be the property of the Township of Wellington North. In addition, four replica firearms, a prohibited knife, and drug paraphernalia was also seized. During the search of the residence, officers located a suspected marijuana grow operation. 231 suspected marijuana plants and approximately 185 grams of suspected dried marijuana and cannabis resin was located along with grow equipment and documentation. The value of the suspected drug seizure was $8360 and $200 for the road signs.

A female Christine Tavares age 44, a male Mark Tavares age 20, and a male Jody Ranni age19, all of Arthur, have been charged with production of cannabis, possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis over 30 grams, possession of cannabis resin under 1 gram, and two counts each of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. They are scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on the 5th of July 2013 to answer to these charges.
