(MAPLETON TWP, ON) On Tuesday July 9, 2013, at approximately 1:00 pm, members of the West Region OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) were conducting moving radar and monitoring traffic on County Road 7 near County Road 12 in Mapleton Twp.
At this time and location Sergeant Ryan Martin observed a northbound 1994 Pontiac travelling well above the speed limit. Police clocked the vehicle on radar at 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver’s licence has been suspended and vehicle seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
Peter Friesen age 25 of Mapleton Twp has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on August 21, 2013 to answer to the charge.
