Update: ATV Collision – Driver In Critical Condition

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Thursday, August 1, 2013 at approximately 9:10 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a single vehicle collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Zion Church Road at Concession 24 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

A 29 year old South Bruce Peninsula male (not 24 yrs. as reported earlier) was operating an ATV, a 2008 Kawasaki KVF650, northbound on Zion Church Road when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch and struck a tree. The victim was air lifted to Victoria Hospital in London with serious, life threatening injuries. He remains in critical condition.

The South Bruce Peninsula Fire Department, Bruce County Emergency Services (EMS) and the Bruce Peninsula OPP assisted.

The OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to assist with the investigation, which continues.

Zion Church Road was closed from Grey Rd. 1 – south to Concession 21; and Concession 24 was closed from Zion Church Road – east to Gleason Lake Road for the safety of emergency responders at the scene for several hours. The roads were reopened at approximately 4:15 a.m. this morning.
