Update: Man Arrested for Richmond Homicide

(Ottawa)— The Joint Investigative Team of the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested a 50-year-old male from Winchester, Ontario, in connection with the murder of 28-year-old Melissa Kelly Richmond.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Ottawa on Saturday, August 3, 2013. He is facing a charge of murder.

The identity of the accused man will not be released until such time as he appears by video in court.

Richmond was last seen leaving her residence on July 24th and her vehicle was located on July 26th in Ottawa’s south end. She was the subject of a missing person investigation led by the OPP.
