(PORT HOPE, ON) On Saturday August 17, 2013 at approximately 3:30 pm Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 401 near Toronto Road in the Municipality of Port Hope where the driver was found to be disqualified from driving under the Criminal Code.
The officer stopped the eastbound black 1999 Ford Explorer at the off ramp of exit 461 known as Toronto Road. The male driver produced a passport as identification and through investigation the officer determined that the male was under several active driving suspensions under the Criminal Code. He was also suspended under the Highway Traffic Act.
Tony DeSousa, 28 from Brampton, Ontario has been issued an appearance notice for driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code and a summons for driving while under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday September 11, 2013 at 9:30 am. The vehicle has been impounded for 45 days under the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
