(ZORRA TOWNSHIP, ON.) – At approximately 2:00p.m. Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) received a report of a glider crash in a corn field on the 31st line in Zorra Township.
Members of the O.P.P., the Embro Fire Department and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (E.M.S) attended and secured the scene.
Earlier today, the glider was towed by a plane and released to glide. The glider crashed into a cornfield. The towing plane was able to locate the glider in a corn field and confirm the location for emergency services.
On the scene, the glider was located and the 76 year old male pilot was found deceased at the scene.
O.P.P Forensic Identification Unit is currently on scene and the coroner will attend the scene to assist with the investigation.
Police have notified Transport Canada, and the scene will be held for them to continue with the investigation.
The identification of the deceased is being withheld at this time, pending notification of family members.
