(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – Members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit along with assistance of members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a local man and woman with several drug offences. The charges stem from the investigation of illegal drug related activities in the Kirkland Lake area. It culminated with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence located on Lebel Avenue in Kirkland Lake.
Seized as a result of the search was cocaine, marihuana, prescription pills, hashish, firearms, drug paraphernalia and money. The estimated value of the drugs seized is approximately $12,000. The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 a.m. on August 23, 2013.
Charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 are both Maurice LEDUC age 56 of Kirkland Lake and Taryn BOUTIN-MITCHELL age 26 also of Kirkland Lake. Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on October 17, 2013.
