UPDATE: FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION IN RAMARA TOWNSHIP

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) are currently investigating a Fail to Remain collision between a car and bicycle on Rama Road in Ramara Township.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on August 21, 2013, Orillia OPP were dispatched for a complaint of a person staggering on Rama Road in Ramara Township. On arriving officers located a male party walking on the side of the road. The male was confused and was missing a shoe. The male, 40 years old, from Rama First Nation was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers believed the male may have been struck by a vehicle and investigated further. They located the male’s other shoe and a bicycle in the ditch on the eastbound side of Rama Road. The bicycle was severely damaged and police also located parts of a car at the scene.

The OPP would like to thank the public for their assistance and advise that an arrest has been made in this incident.

Matthew PROVENCHER, 29 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident under the Criminal Code of Canada. He has been released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on October 15, 2013.
